ACE, ACE, ACE, EVERYBODY ACE YOU GOT SERVED

VOLLEYBALL: SPOTLIGHT

Jaguars fans have gotten used to hearing the “Ace, ace, ace everybody ace” cheer this season.  As a matter of fact, they’ve heard it 256 times.  That’s how many aces the Lady Jags have as a team so far this year.  Leading the way are two players who are at opposite stages of their high school careers.  One, an experienced senior, and the other a young up and coming freshman.  This combination has been lethal against opposing teams that have faced the Lady Jags this year.  Senior Kalisi Vanisi and freshman Lani Matavao, the leaders in aces served for the state have instilled fear on opposing players who have cowered on the other side of the net from them.   According to the numbers, opposing teams have plenty of reasons to fear this lethal combo.  Kalisi Vanisi’s 78 aces served leads all players in the state of Utah. Freshman Lani Matavao’s 70 aces is second only to her counterpart.  The Jaguars as a team ranks first in all of 6A in aces served and fifth in the state respectively.  So the next time you’re at a Lady Jags volleyball match do not be surprise if you hear “Ace, ace, ace everybody ace.”
